Roller coaster bucket lists are popular amongst roller coaster enthusiasts. Travelers who enjoy all things related to roller coasters often choose to visit have an amusement park when going on vacation. The overall goal of a roller coaster vacation is to have fun, and can be a great vacation option for families, as well as adults who are looking for ways to let their inner child out.
5 Amusement Parks with the Biggest Roller Coasters
While writing roller coasters are overall fun, the reason why some people are looking to ride the biggest roller coasters is because they want to enjoy the thrill that comes with the fast speeds and the weightless drops. The list below includes 5 amusement parks that contain some of the biggest roller coasters on the planet.
1. Heide Park. Heide Park is located in Northern Germany, and offers its visitors an impressive 123 attractions. The Colossus is a wooden roller coaster that comes in at a height of 196.8 feet, which makes it Europe’s tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster, The Colossus reaches top speeds of 68 mph, and has a drop of 159 feet. The Colossus was opened in 2001, and was completely refurbished in 2019.
2. Everland. Everland is South Korea’s largest amusement park, with nearly 6 million people visiting every year. The T Express was added to the Park in 2008, is a wooden roller coaster that comes in at a height of 183.8 feet. It is currently the world’s 6th longest wooden roller coaster and has one of the steepest roller coaster drops on record, with the total drop coming in at just under 151 feet.
3. Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, California. Six Flags magic mountain opened in Valencia in 1971, Covers 262 acres, and is about a 30 minute drive from downtown Los Angeles. Its steel roller coaster Superman: Escape from Krypton was opened in 1997, and was the worlds tallest roller coaster upon opening. Renovated in 2011, this biggest roller coaster is one that comes in at 415 feet, reaches speeds of up to 104 mph, and offers riders a drop of 328 feet.
4. Cedar Point Amusement Park, Sandusky, Ohio. Cedar Point Amusement Park covers an impressive 364 acres, and includes 17 different roller coasters. The Top Thrill Dragster is a steel accelerator roller coaster, which was opened in 2003. It is currently the second highest roller coaster at 420 feet, and offer riders a drop of 400 feet and speeds of up to 120 mph,
5. Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, New Jersey. This Six Flags location was opened in 1974, and is home to Kingda Ka, which was recently opened in 2005. Currently the biggest roller coaster in the world, Kingda Ka is a steel launched roller coaster that comes in at a total height of 456 feet, Its 416 foot drop is nearly a straight vertical, making it a roller coaster ride for those who can handle its 128 mph speed.
