The Scottsdale Hot Air Balloon Festival

The Scottsdale Hot Air Balloon Festival, aka the Salt River Fields Balloon Spooktacular, began in 2011 with a total of 25 hot air balloons. This annual festival uniquely combines the fun and excitement that comes with viewing hot air balloons with one of the more popular holidays celebrated in the United States – Halloween. All ages are welcome due to the variety of things to do, including live music featuring local bands, spectacular firework shows, a pumpkin patch and an area for kids where they can trick or treat for hours.

Additional offerings include a nearby Spook Trail, which is created and managed by local high schools students and is only for the very brave. For those who like to dress up for Halloween, there’s a daily costume contest offering prizes. Shopping opportunities are available via the many vendors included in the festival, with arts, crafts, local souvenirs and special foods created just for the event all available.

Scottsdale has boasting rights  as they offer the world’s longest continuous glowing of hot air balloons illuminating the sky, a total of 3 hours. Attendees can also take rides in tethered balloons, making for memories that last a lifetime.
