Making the Most of Miami

Miami is one of the top travel destinations in the world. The clubs and shops of South Beach, the food and the beaches, the melting pot of culture and excitement- what’s not to love? If you are visiting Miami, here are some things to keep in mind to make the most out of your trip:

  1. It’s not like in the movies. A lot of people have delusions of grandeur of an epic weekend on South Beach only to be met with wildly high club admission fees, even pricier hotel stays, and let’s not forget those parking/valet fees of everywhere! Before you know it your budget for the weekend is spent in the first few hours. The good news is you can stay somewhere off the main strip and then drive or take a bus to the area during the day. The bad news is, there is no real way to save money on the night life- at least not on South Beach.
  1. There are plenty of places to go shopping, but you simply must check out Ocean Drive. While there, take in the beauty of the Art Deco buildings of yesteryear. Can you almost feel the pastel colors and architecture bringing you back to the 1920s and 30s? For additional shopping opportunities, visit the über popular Bayside Marketplace. This large outdoor style mall features more than 150 specialty and tourist shops, loads of eateries and daily free entertainment.
  1. For Cuban culture cool kids visit Little Havana. Eating at one of the local restaurants is pretty much required there, and make sure to save room for desserts like Guava flavored ice cream. Still, if you can’t make it to Little Havana, we promise you will still find loads of yummy foods all throughout Miami.
  1. If your goal in Miami is to get in touch with nature, be sure to check out Everglades National Park for a ranger-guided tour of Shark Valley trail; stop by the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden to do more than smell the roses; and head over to Jungle Island to see parrots, flamingos, and exotic reptiles to name a few.
