Established in 1912, the Beverly Hills Hotel is still known as one of the world’s most famous hotels. Located on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, the hotel is one that’s often associated with famous movie stars, rock stars and celebrities. Elizabeth Taylor spent one of her honeymoons in a Beverly Hills bungalow, and her father managed an art gallery in the hotel’s lobby for many years. Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, and Loretta Young have also spent time in these famous bungalows.

The hotel wasn’t only a popular place where many famous people would book a room, many people would choose to reside in the bungalows for various lengths of time. Howard Hughes would book multiple bungalows at a time, and then reside in all of them, over a period of years. John Lennon and Yoko Ono would often book a bungalow, with hopes of finding privacy. Marilyn Monroe lived at the Beverly Hills Hotel for a period of 2 years.

Legendary Accolades

In 1978, the Eagles won a Grammy for Hotel California. The hotel on the album cover was none other than the Beverly Hills Hotel. The hotel has also been featured in a variety of movies, including The Way We Were, American Gigolo, California Suite, Hannah and Her Sisters, Anywhere But Here, The Bad and the Beautiful, and Shampoo.
